Overview of Role
As the Finished Goods Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing finished good products, ensuring product availability, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and supporting customer demand. This role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating costs and terms, monitoring stock levels, and working closely with various teams to maintain an efficient supply chain and overall business success.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage the procurement of finished goods in line with forecasted demand and inventory requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery expectations are met.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms to deliver best value for the business.
- Monitor stock levels and place purchase orders to maintain optimum inventory levels while minimising excess stock.
- Work closely with Supply Chain, Planning, Sales, and Operations teams to ensure product availability.
- Track supplier performance and proactively address supply issues, shortages, or delays.
- Review forecasts and demand trends to support purchasing decisions.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and supplier consolidation.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and relevant regulations.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier data, and system updates.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications required
Essential
- Supplier relationship and stakeholder management
- Proven experience in procurement with technical understanding within a FMCG environment.
- Excellent negotiation, supplier management, and analytical skills.
- Experience working cross-functionally with planning, technical, and production teams.
- Proficiency in inventory management.
- Strong commercial acumen and budget management experience.
- Knowledge of MRP systems and procurement analytics tools.
- Strategic thinking and commercial awareness
- Risk management and problem-solving
- Strong analytical and decision-making capability
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Advanced negotiation and influencing skills
